Level 2 Award in Basic Life Support

This four-hour course is recommended for first-aiders who wish to develop or maintain good practice in the safe, prompt and effective administration of cardiopulmonary resuscitation and automated external defibrillation.

Topics covered include:

  • managing an unresponsive casualty who is breathing normally
  • managing an unresponsive casualty who is not breathing normally
  • safe use of an automated external defibrillator.

Assessment method

Assessment of practical demonstration and written/oral questioning.

Training should be refreshed every 3 years.
