Professional Trainer Certificate

Chartered Institute of Environmental Health

Having knowledge or possessing a skill is obviously a key asset for a trainer. But the ability to communicate well with those you are teaching makes the effective and successful trainer.

This course is designed to enhance the trainer's delivery skills and to instil confidence in new or existing trainers or tutors. As such, the programme involves active participation throughout much of the course. The course is ideal for anyone who needs to understand the basics of training practice, or wants to refine their training techniques. Those who have never delivered training before will find it an ideal basis for their future training activities. Candidates will gain greater enthusiasm and confidence for training delivery, as well as ideas for creativity and further development.

Trainers or potential trainers from any discipline will benefit from this programme, as the qualification concentrates on the training process, rather than training content. The qualification extends the content of basic training techniques by encouraging a dynamic and flexible approach to training delivery, taking into account some of the recent advances in accelerated learning.

The three day programme concludes with an assessment based on the delivery of a short training session.

Syllabus:

  • Training Needs and Objectives
  • Learning Styles and Preferences
  • Training Skills
  • Training Structure and Design
  • Training Styles and Communication
  • Training Assessment

The programme will involve a significant amount of hands-on activity with additional work outside the sessions to develop the content and materials for assessment on the final day.
