Highfield Awarding Body for Compliance (HABC) or Chartered Institute of Environmental Health (CIEH) Training may also be delivered unaccredited, with issue of hsh certificate of attendance

Guided Learning Hours 6-9 hours

A one day course is designed to raise awareness of health & safety issues in any work environment and can be presented to suit individual companies and organisations. It is also suitable as a refresher course for staff

The course covers:

  • The principles of health and safety and accident prevention
  • Health & Safety Law & Enforcement
  • Health and safety management systems
  • The prevention of accidents and ill health
  • Risk assessment : Hazard Risk and Control
  • Employers and employees responsibilities
  • Overview of main causes of harm to workers:
    • Including - Manual handling, Slips, Trips & Falls, Fire, COSHH, Electricity, Noise, Machinery & Equipment, DSE, Violence, Stress, Lone Working, Vehicles, Working at Height
  • The importance of following systems, procedures and rules
  • How individual action can reduce risks to health and safety
  • Appreciation of how the design of a task may affect health and safety

Assessment is a 60 minute examination consisting of 30 question multi-choice paper (pass mark 20).
