First Aid at Work Skills Update
HSE strongly recommends that it is good practice for first aiders to complete annual 'refresher' courses during any three year FAW/EFAW certificate period.
It is important that employers ensure qualified first aiders attend these courses to help maintain their basic skills and keep up to date with any changes to first-aid procedures.

hsh certificate of attendance. All hsh trainers are HSE accredited and approved.
Guided Learning Hours 3
Delivered as a half day course
The course covers:
- BLS – CPR /airway management
- Unconscious patient – primary and secondary survey – recovery position
- Management of Heart Attack - Conscious patient
- Trainer to highlight and retrain any areas of weakness
- A question and answer session to identify any specific issues relevant to the candidate work environment
The course will include practical demonstration and individual participation.
Assessment of competence is on-going practical and knowledge assessment by trainer. Upon successful completion of the course, candidates will be awarded a certificate of attendance.
