It is recommended that qualified first aiders attend this course two to three months before their FAW certificate expires. The course is designed to update and refresh, checking current knowledge and experience and also giving further theory and familiarisation with any new protocols that have been introduced
Courses are presented over two working days
Upon successful completion, candidates will be awarded a HSE First Aid at Work Certificate, valid for a further three years
The course addresses:
- Airway management
- Burns and scalds management
- Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation
- Eye injuries
- Fractures - injuries to muscles and joints
- Management of unconscious patient/fits and convulsions
- Medical emergencies including child and infant
- Poisons
- Shock and fainting
- Wounds and bleeding
- Preparation for course assessment
